FOOD RELIEF PROGRAM

FOOD RELIEF PROGRAM

During the COVID-19 pandemic,2020, 2021 and 2022 Tabitha global care Uganda stepped up to support communities affected by catastrophe in Mukono District. Understanding the immense challenges faced
by families, we provided essential supplies to alleviate their hardships. Our relief efforts included:

  • Food Security: We distributed tons of maize flour to ensure families had access to staple food items.
  • Basic Necessities: Alongside maize flour, we supplied sugar and salt to help maintain balanced diets.
  • Hygiene Supplies: Recognizing the importance of hygiene, especially during a health crisis, we distributed soap to promote hand washing and prevent the spread of disease.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): We provided face masks to protect community members and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
  •

These efforts were channeled through Mukono District officials to ensure efficient and equitable distribution to the most affected families. By partnering with local authorities, we aimed to reach those in greatest need and provide them with essential resources to navigate through these challenging times.

With permission from the district authorities, our NGO expanded our reach beyond Mukono District to include Kayunga, Luuka, and Wakiso. We extended our relief efforts by providing a comprehensive package of essential supplies to our clients in these areas. Here’s a breakdown of what we distributed:

  • Food Items: We continued to distribute maize flour to ensure a stable food supply. In addition, we included beans and sugar to diversify nutritional intake and support balanced diets.
  • Hygiene Supplies: Alongside soap, we distributed hand washing cans and stands to promote regular hand-washing, a crucial preventive measure against COVID-19.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Face masks remained a staple in our distributions to protect individuals and communities from the virus.
  • Cooking Essentials: Recognizing the importance of cooking oil, we included it in our relief packages to help families prepare nutritious meals.
  • Our approach was guided by the understanding that addressing both immediate food security needs and promoting hygiene practices are essential in mitigating the impacts of disasters and pandemics. By collaborating with local authorities and extending our reach across multiple districts, we aimed to
support as many vulnerable families as possible during these challenging times.
